Tattoo Aftercare Information

After your tattoo is completed, it will be bandaged. In two to six hours, the bandage needs to be removed. Do not remove the bandage until you are able to wash the area safely.

Wash your hands. Use warm water, a mild, fragrance free soap, and just your fingertips to gently wash your tattoo. Do not scrub your tattoo. Do not re-bandage your tattoo. Wear loose CLEAN clothing on and around the area.

Wash your tattoo two times daily or after coming into contact with dirt, sweat, or anything unsanitary for at least two weeks. After washing, pat area dry lightly with paper towels.

Do not expose your tattoo to prolonged direct sunlight, tanning beds, swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, rivers, or sea water for at least three weeks. Showers are fine; avoid baths and soaking your tattoo.

Your tattoo will form a light scab. Do not pick or scratch at your tattoo as doing so might cause loss of color. It will itch and peel while healing. Do not scratch. If needed, apply a little lotion (Unscented Curel Skin Lotion or Unscented Lubiderm Skin Lotion) for relief.

It is normal for your skin to be a little red, sore, or to weep for up to three days. However, signs and symptoms of infections include, but are not limited to, redness, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, elevated body temperature, or excessive draining from the procedure site. In case of these signs and symptoms, seek medical care.
