Doug began learning to tattoo while attending the Maryland Institute, College of Art in the late ’80’s and has been tattooing full time since the early 1990’s. He spent a few years working at Tattoos By Lou in Miami, then moved to Tampa to work for Annette LaRue at Blue Devil Tattoo. In 2003 he moved to Santa Cruz to work at Staircase Tattoo where he stayed until late 2013 when he left to open Mission Street Tattoo with his partners. Doug has been inspired and influenced by such tattoo artists as Horiyoshi III, Greg Irons, Filip Leu, Shige, and Chris Garver, to name just a few. When he’s not tattooing or painting, you can find Doug hanging out with his family, practicing Aikido, shooting arrows, or trying to increase his bowling score.
